CASE
STUDY 02

This project required the creation of a high-energy recognition video celebrating over 110+ individual qualifiers. Each participant needed a distinct moment of recognition, while maintaining a cohesive visual identity and sustained audience engagement across a large volume of content. The brief emphasised individuality, clarity of information, and a premium, event-ready finish.
APPROACH
I developed and pitched three creative directions, with the selected concept initially centred around sports-inspired playing cards, integrating statistics, animated overlays, and voiceover-driven storytelling. Following a shift in client direction to avoid thematic overlap with another one of their events which also had a sports theme, I evolved the concept, retaining the card mechanic while re-contextualising it within a Bahamas casino aesthetic.
The final direction blended influences from casino culture, Casino Royale-style graphic motifs, Bahamian visual identity, and Junkanoo festival colour palettes. This allowed the piece to retain the clarity and structure of the card system while aligning more closely with the event’s location and tone.
DESIGN & EXECUTION
I designed and built a modular motion system within After Effects, enabling scalable production across 110+ individuals. Each “card” was constructed as a dynamic template:
·
Custom card backs featuring Junkanoo-inspired colour ways and patterns
·
Front-facing designs replacing the face and rand of the card with participant imagery
·
Data-driven elements displaying individual statistics (e.g. qualification count, quotes, sales numbers and goals)
The background environment consisted of continuously evolving procedural animations, layered strokes, lines, and patterns inspired by
Casino Royale style graphics, to avoid static repetition and maintain visual energy. Each team was assigned a unique colour palette for
the BG visuals as well as entirely unique card designs to maintain segmentation and prevent fatigue across the sequence. Cards
animated into frame with bespoke transitions, followed by synchronised VO callouts and stat reveals, ensuring each individual had a
clear, impactful moment.

OUTCOME
The final video successfully balanced scale with individuality, delivering over 110 distinct recognition moments within a cohesive and engaging visual system. The modular workflow enabled efficient production without compromising variation, while the refined thematic direction aligned strongly with the event setting.
The piece was exceptionally well received by the client, with elements of the visual language carried through into the wider event branding. The concept extended beyond the screen, with the client producing custom physical decks of cards placed under each attendee’s chair creating a direct, tangible link between the film and the live event experience.
